World Tourism Day Cruise

As the world gradually recover from the effects of the pandemic on the tourism industry, the World Tourism Day usually celebrated on September 27 is an opportunity for tourism practitioners and enthusiasts to foster awareness on social, cultural, political and economic value of tourism.

The 2021 edition of the event, organized by Goge Africa Travel Club witnessed an assemblage of tourism practitioners and travel enthusiasts on a cruise along the Lagos Waterways. Although, a burgeoning city, Lagos state, with about 22% of its landmass constituted of water, many of its residents are yet to explore the benefits of water transportation.

Incorporating the idea of the 2021 World Tourism Day theme: Tourism for Inclusive Growth, as announced by the WTO (World Tourism Organization), the choice of the cruise along the Lagos Waterways was a strategic move at promoting the waterways as an alternative means of transportation across the state.

Recognizing the place of inclusion for tourism growth, the event was partnered by KumChop Afrikana, Bestmangames Limited, Tarzan Jetty and Kizomba Nigeria.
