On April 16th, co-host of the Goge Africa TV Programme Nneka Isaac-Moses moderated a panel discussion at the first Lagos Tourism Summit held at Eko Hotels and Suites.
The day-long summit featured key players in the Lagos tourism industry including Chairman, Lagos State House of Assembly Committee on Tourism, Desmond Elliot, Director General, Nigerian Tourism and Development Corporation Folarin Coker, Managing Director, Bank of Industry, Kayode Pitan, President of La Campagne Tropicana, Wanle Akinboboye and more.
A Lagos Tourism Master Plan is being crafted to better situate Lagos as a major tourism destination in the country, officials announced.
Participants at the day-long summit were treated to several cultural presentations – dances, music – and art.
Governor of Lagos State, Akinwunmi Ambode addressed the gathering.
“As a government, we are conscious of the fact that infrastructure, security, stability and partnership with all stakeholders are fundamental ingredients for tourism development,” he said in his address.
“We have channeled a lot of resources into creating an enduring infrastructural architecture for the business of tourism to thrive. … Our plans, concepts and executions are very deliberate and well thought-out to make a highly populated mega city-state culturally attractive and artistically functional.”
