Masquerade Festival

Odo masquerade festival is a vibrant celebration of ancestral worship and communal living. In the hilly town of Ngwo, the Odo Masquerade festival, marked once in two years celebrates the return of dead ancestors to the land of the living. During this festival, the community is super charged with activities, with these ancestors represented by towering palm frond-stripped masquerades known as the Odomagala. All indigenes of Ngwo, irrespective of age, gender or religious creed, unites in celebration of this festival.
