On Thursday, October 9, 2025, the German Consulate General in Lagos hosted a memorable celebration to mark the 35th Anniversary of German Unification, under the theme “Celebrating What Unites Us.”
The event, led by the new Consul General, Daniel Krull, brought together diplomats, government officials, business leaders, cultural figures, and friends of Germany to reflect on the enduring values of unity, peace, and international cooperation.
As a brand deeply rooted in cultural exchange and storytelling, Goge Africa was honored to be part of the evening — capturing moments that highlighted the powerful intersections between diplomacy, culture, and shared humanity.

Unity Beyond Borders
In his remarks, Consul General Daniel Krull underscored Germany’s commitment to partnership and collaboration with Nigeria.
“In the spirit of this year’s theme, ‘Celebrating What Unites Us,’ we Germans — the government, industry, and scientific community — look forward to joining forces with our Nigerian partners to help unleash the full economic potential of the City of Excellence and beyond,” he said.
His words reflected a vision of cooperation that transcends geography — rooted in innovation, creativity, and mutual respect.
Culture as a Bridge
The celebration featured a vibrant cultural showcase that blended German precision with Nigerian artistic expression. From contemporary dance and culinary delights, the evening embodied the power of culture to connect people and tell shared stories.
For Goge Africa, whose mission has always been to use media to promote cultural understanding and celebrate Africa’s place in the world, this event reaffirmed the importance of soft diplomacy — where culture becomes a bridge between nations.
Shared Voices, Shared Vision
On the sidelines of the event, Goge Africa spoke with Consul General Daniel Krull and Rufai Oseni of Arise TV. Both emphasized the importance of sustained dialogue and creative partnerships between Germany and Nigeria — particularly in education, technology, media, and youth empowerment.
“Unity is not only a historical achievement but a present-day mission that requires collective effort and understanding.”

A Partnership Strengthened by Values
Germany’s ongoing collaboration with Nigeria spans education, renewable energy, entrepreneurship, and cultural exchange — all of which align with Goge Africa’s vision of a globally connected Africa that leverages its culture for progress.
The theme, “Celebrating What Unites Us,” resonated deeply with attendees and reflected shared aspirations for a peaceful and prosperous world.
Goge Africa’s Perspective
For over two decades, Goge Africa has carried the torch of cultural diplomacy — using film, television, and events to connect people across Africa and beyond.
Being part of the German National Day celebration was a beautiful reminder of why we began this journey: to show that culture is not just entertainment, but a bridge linking hearts, nations, and generations.
As we watched the performances and listened to voices celebrating unity, we were transported back twenty years — to our visit to Karneval der Kulturen in Berlin. Invited by the City of Berlin, in collaboration with Lufthansa, that experience opened our eyes to how vibrant, inclusive, and transformative culture can be when people come together to celebrate differences and discover shared humanity.
“When we celebrate one another, we grow stronger together.”

The lesson remains timeless: each song, dance, and story shared reminds us that beyond language or geography, there is a universal rhythm that binds us all.
As we continue to tell Africa’s story to the world, Goge Africa remains steadfast in promoting the values of unity, diversity, and partnership — values that echo through Germany’s National Day and through every culture that seeks understanding over division.
