Goge Africa at CAF 68: Showcasing Africa in Abuja

Goge Africa lit up CAF 68 in Abuja with vibrant culture, innovation, and storytelling. More than a tourism meeting, it was a celebration of Africa’s spirit and future

Nigeria proudly hosted the 68th Meeting of the UN Tourism Regional Commission for Africa (CAF) from June 11–13, 2025, at the Transcorp Hilton Hotel, Abuja. This high-level event, organized by the Federal Ministry of Art, Culture, Tourism and Creative Economy under the leadership of Honourable Minister Barr. Hannatu Musa Musawa, in collaboration with UN Tourism Secretary-General Zurab Pololikashvili, brought together over 300 delegates from across 51 African member states.

At the heart of CAF 68 was a powerful theme:
“Boosting the Social Impact of Tourism and Education via Innovation, AI, and the Creative Industries.”

This thematic conference and technical workshop served as a platform for African Tourism Ministers, international organizations, and top industry leaders to engage in dialogue, share best practices, and foster partnerships for inclusive and resilient tourism development across the continent. It also showcased Nigeria’s immense potential as a destination for both leisure and business.

Highlights from the Event:

• Opening Ceremony – Hosted in the Congress Hall with the Vice President of Nigeria in attendance.
• Thematic Conference – Engaging sessions on innovation, AI, and cultural industries.
• Welcome Cocktail – Held at the iconic Nike Art Gallery.
• Gala Dinner – A night of elegance and celebration at Transcorp Hilton.
• Art Fair & Technical Visit – Visits to Nike Art Gallery, Discovery Museum, and Arts & Crafts Village.

Throughout the three-day gathering, Goge Africa was on the ground capturing the cultural essence of the event. Amb. Isaac Moses and Nneka Isaac Moses explored the vibrant art and craft exhibitions featuring gemstones, beads, fabric, traditional foods, and handmade jewelry. Nneka also conducted insightful interviews with several African tourism ministers, including Rodney Malindi Sikumba (Zambia), Tom R. Butime (Uganda), and Barbara Rwodzi (Zimbabwe), all highlighting the collective commitment to sustainable tourism across the continent.

CAF 68 was not just a meeting; it was a celebration of Africa’s cultural wealth, innovation, and hospitality. As the continent continues to rise as a global tourism destination, Goge Africa remains committed to telling these transformative stories. With Zambia chairing the commission for the next two years, we hold on to their vibrant motto: “If it ain’t fun, then it ain’t tourism!”
