The Federal Government of Nigeria through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, has instructed the withholding of travellers passports coming into Nigeria for a period of 14 days.

This decision was arrived at after widespread consultations, in tandem with the directives of the Presidential Task Force on Covid-19.

In a circular dispatched to all its missions, embassies and affiliate organisations abroad, the Ministry instructed the strict observance of 14 days self-isolation by travellers coming into the country, at their point of entry. This will be followed by routine tests for Covid-19 at the expiration of the 14 days isolation.

Furthermore, following the prove of a negative test result, travellers are permitted to proceed to their states of residence and their passports returned to them via special delivery.

This latest development which has commenced, however, exempts holders of diplomatic passports.
