World Twins Festival to Hold from October 9 in Igbo-Ora

The Olu of Igbo-Ora, His Royal Mjesty, Oba Jimoh Olajide Titiloye (Asoroolu Ayinla V) has rolled out the line-up of activities scheduled to mark the 2021 edition of the Igbo-Ora World Twins Festival; an annual tourism event celebrated in the famed twins capital of the world. Themed: “Twinning for Global Medical Breakthrough”, the 2021 edition is a celebration of the successful separation of the cojoined Martins twins by the medical team of National Medical Centre, Abuja in 2020.

This was contained in a statement jointly released by the Most Famous Twins in African Tourism and Global Facilitators of the Festival, Ambassadors Taiwo and Kehinde Oguntoye. According to the statement, the one-week-long festival will commence on Sunday, the 3rd of October, with a special church twins thanksgiving at the Methodist Church, Igbo-ora, to be followed by the traditional cleansing rite of the town known as Iwure on Monday, 4th October.

Other schedule of events are as follows:

Tuesday, 5th October: Twins Debate Competition among twin-students in Junior Secondary Schools in Ibarapa Land.

Wednesday, 6th October 2021: Twins Debate Competition among twin-students in Junior Secondary Schools in Ibarapa Land.

Thursday, 7th October 2021: Twins traditional/cultural games day.

Friday, 8th October 2021: Special Jumat Twins Service at the Igbo-Ora Central Mosque; Royal homage to the paramount ruler of Igbo-Ora land; Special tribute night procession in honour of departed twins tagged twins night of honour.

Saturday, 9th October 2021: Grande finale/Twins Pilgrimage Day at the festival arena, Methodist Grammar School, Igbo-Ora, Oyo State, Nigeria.

The festival which has over the years attracted tourists from around the world, maintaining its imprint as a unique cultural tourism with competitive advantage for Nigeria would also feature: Twins Concert, Circus performances, Twins Appelation, Twins Fashion and Parade, talent show among other activities.

Dignitaries who are expected at the event include: the Executive Governor of the State, Engr. Seyi Makinde who is the Chief Host; Life Grand Patron of the festival, His Imperial Majesty, Oba Dr. Lamidi Adeyemi Atanda, The Alaafin of Oyo is expected to lead other dignitaries spread across the globe.

According to the LOC Chairman, HRM Oba Adedamola Badmus, Olu-Aso of Iberekodo, Igbo-Ora, local and international tourists shall all follow and observe all Covid-19 related protocols during all scheduled activities of event.
