Tourism Media Roundtable Charts Path for Nigeria’s Growth

The Tourism Media Roundtable hosted by Neneuwa Hub Limited convened key stakeholders across tourism, technology, and media to deliberate on the theme: “Tourism Meets Technology and Storytelling: A Strategic Media Agenda for Nigeria’s Tourism Growth.”

The panel session, moderated by Dr. Adun Okupe, Principal Advisor at Redclay Advisory, featured distinguished speakers including Amb. Nneka Isaac-Moses, Co-founder of Goge Africa Worldwide Ltd.; Alh. Badaki Aliyu (PhD), President of FTAN; Dr. Oluwatoyin Lydia Adedayo, HOD of Tourism Management Technology, YABATECH; Kehinde Odusote, Senior Consultant at Tech Cabal Insights; and Cornelius Ugwunuwa, Co-founder of Cardinal INC.

Drawing insights from their diverse fields—media storytelling, academia, technology, and tourism—the panelists discussed the evolving dynamics of Nigeria’s tourism narrative and the role of data, innovation, and collaboration in shaping a global tourism identity.

Research Presentation

Convener Nnenaya Fakoya-Smith presented her research findings, recommending the development of a unified national tourism brand, investment in digital skills for stakeholders, enhanced public-private partnerships, and community-led digital storytelling as pathways toward sustainable tourism growth.

Charting a New Path for Tourism Storytelling

A breakout session themed “Amplifying Nigerian Tourism Through Strategic Media Collaboration” encouraged participants to brainstorm actionable ideas. Discussions emphasized community-driven storytelling, stronger data collection and analysis, integration of technology, and intentional storytelling through platforms like Nollywood, YouTube, and podcasts.

Call for Youth-Led Initiatives

Delivering the keynote address, Ngozi Ngoka, Thematic Lead, Tourism and Hospitality Industry Thematic Group (NESG), urged for greater collaboration and participation of youth-led initiatives, such as that championed by the convener.

The event served as a melting pot for tourism veterans and emerging practitioners—including alumni of the Goge Africa Free Tourism Training (Balogun Sewedo of Sewedor Tours, Ayomide Adediji of The Ayomide Travels, Jibola Abati of Taste of African Vibes, Jumoke Munu of tsptravels, Damilola Okegbemi of Dami Travels, Vera Frank-Ukafia, Emmanuel Dansu of Educlime Tours) —reaffirming the importance of cross-generational partnerships in advancing Nigeria’s tourism sector.
